Art by Phil Lewis

Throughout my life I have always felt a special connection to nature, and being outdoors inspires me to create. The amazing scenery in Colorado has certainly fueled this inspiration, and the surrounding landscapes appear frequently in my work. In addition to drawing the things I see around me, I also like to draw the things I come up with on my own. To imagine is the most fun.

Lately I have been developing a style of artwork that combines pen drawings and digital design. I will start out with black line drawings and then color them in with Sharpie and Prismacolor markers. I then scan my drawings into Photoshop and re-brush some of the sections, add shading,

effects, and adjust the colors until they “pop” as much as possible. I then print the images digitally on fine-art canvas. The resulting media is a hybrid pen-drawing / digital-canvas, which ends up looking like a giant piece of candy stuck to the wall.

I am truly humbled and grateful for the ability to create this art, and through it, I hope to bring as much color and light into the world as I can.

I'm not an art critic, but when I view the work of Phil Lewis, the
vibrant colors and psychedelic style bring to mind the art of Peter
Max. Combine that style with Colorado's landscapes and you get very
interesting, creative "Colorful Colorado" art.

I will call Phil Lewis the "Captain Fantastic" of Colorado art
